Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Products
What exactly is a Family Digital Agreement?
A Family Digital Agreement is a printable PDF that helps your family set clear, fair rules for life online — together. Unlike generic screen time limits, our agreements name the specific apps your kids actually use (phones, gaming platforms, social media, AI tools, group chats), include commitments from parents as well as kids, and outline how the family will handle it when rules get broken. Think of it as a family contract you all fill in together, not a rulebook handed down from above.
Is this a physical product or a digital download?
All of our products are instant digital downloads — PDF files you receive immediately after purchase. You print them at home, sit down with your family, and fill them in together. No shipping, no waiting.
Can I edit the PDF after downloading?
Yes. Our agreements are designed to be filled in by your family, so the key fields are editable. You can also print and handwrite your answers — many families find the act of writing it together more meaningful.
What age is each agreement designed for?
- The Foundation (Ages 6–9) — First devices, first rules. Covers early internet use, games, and the basics of online safety.
- The Transition (Ages 10–13) — Social media beginnings, group chats, gaming communities, and the growing need for privacy and trust.
- The Reset (Ages 14–17) — Built for teenagers who need to be treated like near-adults. Includes negotiated rules, real consequences, and honest conversations about AI, relationships, and content.
Do I need to buy all three, or just one?
Start with the agreement that matches your child's current age. If you have kids at multiple ages, or want to be prepared for future stages, the Family Starter Bundle includes all three agreements at a reduced price — it's the best value if you have more than one child or want the full progression in one download.
What is the Amnesty Clause?
The Amnesty Clause is built into every agreement: once per quarter, your child can tell you about a mistake they made online — and there is no phone or device consequence for the telling. No interrogation about how you found out. You help fix what can be fixed, and you move on. It's the rule that makes honest conversations actually possible, because kids won't come to you with problems if they're afraid of losing their devices every time something goes wrong.

Using the Agreements
How do I introduce this to my child without it feeling like a punishment?
The key is framing: this isn't a list of things they're not allowed to do — it's a set of agreements that both of you sign. Your child is also agreeing to things from you. Sit down together, read through it section by section, and let them cross things out or add things that feel important to them. When kids have a say in the rules, they're far more likely to respect them.
What if my child refuses to sign it?
That conversation is actually the point. If your child pushes back on a specific rule, it's worth understanding why — often it reveals something important about what they're already doing online, or what they're worried you'll restrict. Start with the rules they agree on, and negotiate the rest. An imperfect agreement that everyone has genuinely agreed to is worth more than a perfect one nobody respects.
How often should we revisit the agreement?
We recommend reviewing it every six months, or whenever something significant changes — a new platform, a new school year, a new device, or a breach of trust that needs addressing. The agreements are designed to evolve with your family.
